General during the First World War, he was one of those who fought and resisted in Dobrogea in the autumn of 1916, being wounded and decorated for his courage; after returning to the front, he took the command of the 11^th Infantry Division, with which he participated in the battle of Marasesti. Also at the head of the 11^th Infantry Division he entered in Bessarabia, at the order of the Romanian government, defending the inhabitants of Bessarabia from the attacks and robberies of the Russian soldiers withdrawing.
