Transylvanian Romanian, publicist in support of the national cause, Bishop of Caransebes and Metropolitan of Transylvania from 1910, defended the Romanian schools in Banat and Transylvania, attended the Great National Assembly in Alba Iulia on 1 December 1918, went to Bucharest with the Act of the Union, the first patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church.
